Tips for Cleaning Desktop & Laptop
Keeping your devices clean helps improve performance, hygiene, and longevity. Here’s how to do it right:
🖥️ For Desktops (Monitor, Keyboard, CPU)
1. Turn Off & Unplug Everything
Always shut down your computer and unplug it before cleaning.
2. Clean the Monitor Screen
- Use a microfiber cloth (dry or slightly damp with distilled water).
- For stubborn smudges, mix 50/50 distilled water + white vinegar or use screen-safe cleaner.
- Avoid spraying directly—spray on the cloth instead.
3. Wipe the Keyboard
- Turn it upside down and gently tap to remove crumbs.
- Use compressed air to clear dust from between keys.
- Wipe with a cloth slightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol (70% or above).
4. Dust the CPU & Vents
- Use a soft brush or compressed air to blow dust from fans and vents.
- Avoid opening it unless you know how to safely access components.
💻 For Laptops
1. Power Off & Unplug
Safety first. Also remove the battery if possible.
2. Screen Care
- Use a clean microfiber cloth.
- For deeper cleaning, use distilled water or screen-safe solution.
3. Keyboard & Trackpad
- Use compressed air to clean between keys.
- Gently wipe keys and trackpad with alcohol on a lint-free cloth.
4. Outer Body
- Use a damp cloth with a mild soap solution to wipe the shell.
- Dry immediately with a clean cloth.
🔒 Bonus Tips
- Don’t use window or household cleaners on screens.
- Don’t spray anything directly onto your device.
- Clean your devices weekly or biweekly for best results.
